Known locally as "The Broad", Broad Street is a wide street located in the centre of Oxford. Three colleges, Balliol, Trinity and Exeter are located here as well as the Sheldonian Theatre. Broad Street was the site where the Protestant Oxford Martyrs were burnt at the stake in 1555 and 1556 with the location marked by a cobbled cross in the road opposite Balliol College. Blackwell's bookshop and the first ever Oxfam charity shop are also located in this street.
