The information below is printed on the back of the card:
The Eagle and Child pub, also known as the Bird and Baby, is located in St Giles on a site that has been a pub since 1650. It was the meeting place from the 1930's to the 1960's of "The Inklings", an informal group of Oxford writers that included CS Lewis and JRR Tolkein. They met in the Eagle and Child to read and discuss their latest manuscripts, including "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" by CS Lewis and "The Lord of the Rings" by JRR Tolkein.
